Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga yoga

Ashtanga yoga is a method of yoga that aims to develop one’s physical and psychological health.
The Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga system is a practice that aligns movement with breathing. Each person is taught progressively in accordance with his or her readiness, developing a calm steady pace. This gradual learning process allows the practitioner to develop the strength, flexibility, concentration and stamina that is needed to progress in a safe manner. Over time, the practice begins to grow, becoming a moving meditation where the focus is inward and the body and mind enter into a state of stability. A regular and consistent practice of the Ashtanga yoga method promotes a strong and flexible body, stamina and a balanced state of mind.

Ashtanga Yoga class Includes detailed instructions whilst moving progressively through the Ashtanga Primary series. This class includes standing postures, seated postures, backbends, shoulder stand, headstand, closing postures and a bit of sitting meditation. You’re always welcome to take rest when needed.

Mysore

Mysore Style is the traditional teaching style of Ashtanga Yoga and has the most impact in learning and understanding the practice. Ashtanga Yoga Practice comes from Sri K. Pattabhi Jois who lived in Mysore, South India. Therefore the name given to this method is - "Mysore". The Mysore method focuses on the development of a personal practice, moving in your own time according to their individual abilities. Students are gradually taught a series of postures (asanas) through a one-to-one teaching, in a group setting. The teaching takes into consideration age and physical and mental conditions which establishes a sense of steadiness and calm. Customised to the student’s needs, Ashtanga yoga is suitable for all.
